Sonor Force 2007

The Sonor Force 2007 Studio Shell Pack is designed for advanced drummers who do not want to sacrifice any of their musical freedom.

Sonor Force 2007

The 9-ply birch shells are the superb foundation for Sonor Force 2007 Sets. A hefty and dynamic sound, with accentuated mid-ranges and highs, and defined lows, are the hallmark of these shells. With the high-gloss-lacquered natural wood surfaces, the Sonor Force 2007 Studio 1 drums really put themselves into the limelight.

The birch shells deliver maximum strength, perfect curving, and neutral tuning thanks to tension-free cross-lamination of the individual layers of wood (CLTF – Cross Laminated Tension Free Process). Sonor Force 2007 shells are made of nine 7mm layers for bass drums, toms, floor toms, and snare drums. The Sonor Force tom-drums with short shell sizes offer controlled sustain and give the drums a crisp attack. Sonor heads are made by Remo.

The Sonor Force tuning lugs with fine-pitch threads are equipped with the TuneSafe tuning safeguard feature, which prevents tension screws from loosening. The tom mounting system allows powerful sounds thanks to minimal shell contact. The vibration-free T.A.R. system (Total Acoustic Resonance) provides maximum resonance and sustain. With the tried-and-tested Ball Clamp system with individual tom arms, the toms can be positioned wherever the drummer wishes. The 17-1/2″-deep bass drum allows more power and rich bass drum sounds. The pre-muffled batter and resonance heads on the bass drum provide all-around powerful sounds and dynamic kicks. The bass drum legs can be turned around so that they rest on either the rubber or the metal end and can be adjusted using a fastening screw. The inner workings of the bass drum bracket apply smooth yet firm pressure.

Yamaha YD9000

The YD9000 drum is made of all birch laminated shells that is significant for tight and well defined sound. It is also known as “Recording Custom” and has become the most recorded drum set in history.

Yamaha YD9000

This model featured 100% birch shells, one-piece lugs, and a gorgeous sprayed finish. Maple was the most popular material for drum shells at the time, following the trend set by jazz drums from the U.S.A. Through our own research related to pianos and wind instruments, we had realized that birch would be an ideal material for drum shells. We were also the first to apply piano finishing techniques to drums, eschewing the veneer covering that was common at the time. The full force of Yamaha technology was applied to the production of this landmark product.

The use of one-piece lugs to enhance the natural hardness of the birch shells resulted in a tight, well-defined sound that was enthusiastically adopted by many top artists of the day, including Steve Gadd and Cozy Powell. The sound was so well suited to recording that the YD9000 has become the most recorded drum set in history. The name was later changed to “Recording Custom,” a model that is still widely used today.
